Ward 8 Book Festival 2013
The Ward 8 Book Festival was the first of its kind to take place in Southeast Washington, DC on June 15th, 2013. Historical in nature, the focus for the festival was to combat high illiteracy rates and to make published local authors accessible to impoverished communities. Lamont Carey and late Council-Member Marion Barry ignited the desire to read, write and support the aspirations of fellow authors. I contributed to their efforts by featuring participating authors on my Local Author Spotlight Blog. I am a firm believer in artists supporting artists. The event was sponsored by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. Please contact me here for author, festival, or literary event promotion.
