Wisdom Speaks Video Bio
Paying Homage to the Washington Redskins
Where do you draw your inspiration from to write?
My influences come from observing characters that I come across in my everyday life especially those that leave impressions way after they are gone. I have to write because the things that move me take up a lot of my mental space, so I’ve got to get it off my brain by writing colorful observations that will inspire my audience.
What advice do you have for someone that is threatened by poetry?
Poetry is written-expressed- painted-carved- marked and engraved in a dimension for others to draw a variety of feelings ranging from being happy, sad, alone, lost on their own journey through life etc. Poetry is always in motion, therefore being threatened by it would be False Evidence Appearing Real (F.E.A.R) All poets have a great support system inside their soul that has to be acknowledged to save other souls that can relate to humanity.
What is an interesting fact about you?
A couple of years ago, I performed a poem with Yvonne at Takoma Station.
Where are you from/ Where do you live?
Born and raised in Washington, DC
Wisdom Speaks Testimony
(In a whispering voice) This is my Testimony, I tell the truth and no lies, if I do take the
breath from my soul and let me die, I pray to God for another night, Seen a lot of petty
things in my life and I don’t Think it’s right…..
Dear lord I’m down on my knees begging you please
for some guidance and survival on these streets of D.C
See some people don’t really care about me and it’s point blank
They see that I’m the captain of a ship that won’t sank
Trying to make me walk the plank I’m barely surviving
Still struggling sick and tired of hustling but they look at me like
I’m bluffing because I got dreams and million dollar schemes
They ain’t feeling me instead of trying to help a brother out
They rather kill me but I ain’t going out like that just
Like them I got a whole lot to lose seeing my face up on the news
And the feds don’t really care about either side of the drive by
The brother that’s going survive or the brother that’s going to die
So as I lay me down to sleep I pray to you to sweep all these fools
that want to creep and if I should die before the rising of the sun
I guess it’s true if you living then you die by the gun damn this
Is my testimony
(this is my testimony)
Brothers you know you wrong
Just think of the tears and the fears you bring to your folks back home
Where did we go wrong my lord?
I got a family with some beautiful kids that I love to death
A little boy and a girl and I ain’t got nothing else do you know what it means
To see the smile from your child or feel the tears of their pain when they call
Out your name it’s all the same and every day it’s something new another step
deep into fatherhood and its still all good you see my kids are normal but it’s many kids
with special needs many nights I want to drop to my knees cry till I bleed but I still
proceed because I know you feel my pain and hear my cries when I look into
my baby boy’s eyes everything is for reason realities been made and the future is a game
that’s been played in so many ways I prayed for better days I swear to god I rather die
then see my kids suffer cause my life cant get no rougher I been locked up called names
been through these street games every days the same thing its got to change this is my
He tried to be so hard from the very start but I don’t think he’s going make it this
time….. this is my testimony I tell the truth and no lies if I do take the breath from my
soul and let me die I pray to god for another night done seen a lot of petty things in my
life and I just don’t think its right
This is my testimony x’s 3
