It's not everyday that I meet a boxer like Jiffy. She's gorgeous and strikingly intimidating. But there is so much more that meets the eye with the Boxing Princess, once you've managed to dodge her fiery red sparks that is. Born in Beaufort, South Carolina and raised in Tampa Bay, FL, Jiffy grabbed her undergraduate degree in psychology from College of the Canyons in Valencia, CA, before attending Texas Southern University to pursue a second degree in psychology. An integral member of TSU’s recreation and wellness department, Jiffy established the first college boxing team at a historically black college and university (HBCU), and established the first nationally recognized college boxing team in Texas. She didn't stop there. Jiffy secured the first women’s regional championship within the National College Boxing Association, two years into her collegiate boxing career in 2012. She was selected to compete in the first college boxing nationals for women in 2013 (USIBA League) and was no longer eligible as a student boxer. Jiffy currently competes locally in Houston and surrounding areas as an open boxer, taking on opponents of different weight classes for experience. Interesting fact about Jiffy? She's a Vegan.Field of Green’s Restaurant will supply Jiffy with essential nourishment needed for the boxer’s strict vegan lifestyle, vital for preparing her for the 2014 Women’s Golden Gloves Championships, which takes place in Fort Lauderdale Beach, FL, July 7-12. Ultimately leading to her earning a spot on Team USA, fighting in the Olympics. Boxing and Literary ConnectionVan G. Garrett, a writer who is drawn to moments of intensity in the boxing ring, poetry, and in everyday life manages Jiffy. He also created a photo series, "The Boxing Princess" which documents Jiffy's journey to the top. To learn more about Garrett's work, please visit www.vanggarrettpoet.com.
