"May Peace Prevail on Earth"

It was a pleasure discussing the significance of internal peace and world peace as it relates to The Crying Girl Movement at Parkdale High School.  Under the tutelage of award winning teacher and poet, Neville Adams, the Student Government Association put together a fantastic program and first of its kind at Parkdale.

The Peace Pole symbolizes our missions and simultaneously links our work with that of people of all faiths and nationalities who strive for creating a better world. Student community liaisons, Jocelyn Nolasco and Juwan Blocker served as hosts for the evening.   Joyce Lang, a representative from the Maryland United for Peace and Justice Coalition  spoke of the significance of the Peace Poll and Lyrikal Storm Poets performed a selection of peace provoking poetry.

The program closed with a group recital of the statement of peace, “Parkdale High School pledges to promote peace not just at school, but also in our local communities.  As a community, we plan to be the change we want to see in the world and become active leaders in our mission to unify all.”

“A Peace Pole is an internationally-recognized symbol of the hopes and dreams of the entire human family, standing vigil in silent prayer for peace on earth.  Each Peace Pole bears the message May Peace Prevail on Earth in different languages on each of its four or six sides.  There are thousands of Peace Poles in nearly every country in the world dedicated as monuments to peace.”

What a great message - I think it's so important to spread the message with our youth so they can carry it through their lives. Thank you!
