I write these words after learning that a childhood friend, Rebecca Cherry has passed away. Rachel Robertson Campbell, Becky Cherry, and I spent a lot of time together in middle school. Walking around Wheaton Plaza, going to the movies, or just simply hanging out at Rachel’s house watching music videos were our favorite past times. Becky was a good friend and will be missed by many. I send my heartfelt condolences to Becky’s family and friends grieving her unexpected loss.
Rachel, you are LOVED for playing a special role in my childhood even up to now. When I moved to Silver Spring, you were one of my first and only friends. You always shared a passion for communication and friendship, which created a haven of love and respect. You’ve always championed the underdog and have been a believer in second chances. It warms my heart that during space and time, you support my work with genuine praise and interest. It is beautiful to see how you are a mother of two girls who are around the same age that we were when we met. It always amazes me how things come full circle. From middle school to high school to motherhood and now, I take the opportunity while we are both alive and well to let you know that you are LOVED and mean a lot to me!
