I remember Dana Baker, my Guidance Counselor at the time, had a sign on her office door that said, “If you think education is expensive, try ignorance.” This message still resonates with me until today and illustrates the high value Ms. Baker puts on education and intellect and more importantly the value she has put on my education and career advancement. I’ve had the fortune of being one of the many students she has taken under her wing at Montgomery College.

Thirteen years later, Ms. Baker and I are still close as she has been a staunch supporter of my writing. I am grateful for the opportunity to let Ms. Baker know that she is LOVED!!

Damara Toro Dockery is generous and always supporting love!  She has a fine understanding of what it means to be the change one wants to see.  What does she want to see? A more loving world with more loving people in it and this is one reason why Damara is LOVED.  I’ve known Damara since seventh grade and it is motherhood that has connected us once again.  Being both a proud mother and active parent, she juggles time to lend a friend an ear and give down to earth advice.  Not only is she a wonderful listener, she is a creatively thoughtful friend who makes the cutest diaper cakes I’ve ever seen!  I remember Damara driving over 45 minutes while not feeling well just to make sure an adorable diaper cake was delivered to me on my special day.    All throughout middle school, high school, and up until now, Damara has always been known for being one of the prettiest girls in school.  More importantly, Damara’s beauty also comes from within making her even more gorgeous! Love you Damara!  Thank you for always supporting my work!

Marjorie Smith’s interests, hobbies, style and nearly all aspects of her life are products of her unique worldview and what a view she has from all over the world!

Growing up, I remember admiring how dedicated she and her husband were in making sure that their children had what they needed to be successful people and students.  In addition to her children, Mrs. Smith supported my education and made it her business to celebrate with me when I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from UMCP.  I thank Mrs. Smith for her wonderful daughter, Janelle, who is dear to my heart- both of you have been my biggest cheerleaders!   I LOVE you Mrs. Smith and Janelle Wilfong!
